Mumbai: The last couple of days have witnessed many theories about the death of underworld don and global terrorist Dawood Ibrahim. There has been no official confirmation on any of the theories and only a small statement from his close aide Chhota Shakeel featured in some media where he claimed that the fugitive don is alive.

However, sources who are keeping a close watch on the development have refuted these theories and made a sensational claim to crimeanalytical that has not yet been reported anywhere.

The information on Dawood’s death began to do rounds shortly after he was shifted from his highly secured palatial bungalow in Karachi’s upmarket Clifton area. The move, by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), was after the recent mysterious killings of high-profile terrorists in the country. Over 20 terrorists were killed in Pakistan in the last few months. The agency suspected that Dawood could be a potential target and believed the Clifton area was no longer safe for him.

Though the information of his being shifted got leaked, nobody knows the fugitive’s new address. Speculations are that he may have been shifted to a more secure Pakistani military base like Al Qaeda founder Osama Bin Laden. The mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks in the US was killed in 2011 by the United States Navy Seal in the Pakistani city of Abbottabad where he was staying with his wives and children. The location of Laden’s hideout was barely a mile from the Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul.

Sources said that the rumour of Dawood’s death would help in getting an idea about his new location. “The rumour would trigger or would have triggered some movements, like calls, visits, etc that will help in identifying the new location,” said a source who is keeping a close watch on the development.

Sources said it is not easy even for his close relatives to meet him. “They have to inform him in advance and secured arrangements are made for the meeting,” the source said.

While Dawood’s death will be a subject of interest in the media and social media for a few more days, knowledge of his new address will hold importance for many including Indian intelligence agencies which keep a close watch on any activity related to the don and global terrorist.

Dawood Ibrahim is the mastermind behind the 1993 Mumbai (then Bombay) serial blasts in which 257 people were killed and around 1400 were injured.
